About Walhalla

The population was once over 4,500. Many people came from all over the world to seek out their fortune through gold prospecting, trade and later, mining.

Suburbs appeared on the surrounding hills such as Morman Town, Happy-Go-Lucky, Coopers Creek, Black Diamond, West Walhalla and Maiden Town.

Now there are only the memories, old photographs and a few signs of what was once a thriving community.

There are currently 12 permanent residents as of January 2008.
